November highlights...

Wow, almost December already? Jeebus.

This month has been dotted with many drunken karaoke nights, which is great (I think), cuz I love to sing and there's awesome (and surprising) song selection here. I never thought I would ever sing Rancid or Goldfinger for karaoke. Who cares that it's midi file style musical accompaniment  I got to sing Time Bomb (and NoFX's Bob, there's also quite a few Nine Inch Nails songs in there, too, depending on where you go) and 99 Red Balloons. I went out with my friend Minako, from the BOE office a couple of times. We went for dinner with friends of hers and then out with Sakura-san who works in the drop-in type center upstairs from us. Both nights were delicious and song-filled... I have discovered I am able to sing Peggy Lee's Fever without much difficulty, which is nice when I'm with a different crowd. I've gotta figger out at least one Japanese song to do... I have a feeling it with be the opening theme from either Evangelion or Escaflowne. The Evangelion one seems to be available in more places...

Lake Towada

Sunday afternoon road trip to Lake Towada resulted in some pretty pictures...

We stepped outside after lunch and were treated to a sun shower...

Rokkasho Salmon Festival

Greetings and salutations, true believers. Welcome to my post about the Salmon Festival in Rokkasho (just in case you missed the title...)

I drove up to the coast to visit with some fellow Canucks (Tom and Ashley from BC) and catch some fishes with my baaaare haaaaaands. Now, the salmon count was down this year, so it wasn't a 'salmon catch' per se, but it was a good time. As I was saying, I drove up to their place and met up with them Saturday night. Tom was working in the tourist booth helping English speaking folks get their bearings and had already done one round of catching with Charlotte earlier that day. So, when I got up there, it was time to prep the fishies and make up some dinner! Tim (my neighbouring JET) was also in town to visit with his friend Juliann, and Katie was in town as well. Quite the crew! Now, on to the fiiiiiish:

Here we have what will soon become delicious pesto salmon.

Birthday Weekend~!

My coworkers surprised me... several times... with cakes!!! :D Yaaaaay cake! Friday cakes are great, but Friday *Birthday* cakes are best. Didn't have anything really planned except for getting together with Mel (who I haven't seen in years... since she ran away and joined the JET programme) on Saturday.
