Chicken soup with rice

Believe it or not, it's been almost spring-like 'round here... but winter just won't release her kung-fu grip... or Mother Nature is going through menopause or summing. I dunno. But it's frustrating, to say the least.
In an attempt to retain/regain (I'm not sure quite what my status is right now... which is part of the problem, I suppose) my sanity and to reduce my cabin fever, I do my damnedest to get out for a nice long walk when the weather takes a break from raining and snowing. If I can, I take the long way around to get to the grocery store on my way home from work. I noticed that Charley, my jade plant, has roused from his wintery slumber, and that some of the other plants are trying to do the same.
... my iphone is not exactly the best at focusing on up close pictures, but, you can see the buds breaking through... You can do it, little buddies! I believe in youuuuu~!

Ginger and Beef recipes

Hello all my buddies! For those of you living in Canada and northern Japan, hang in there, this winter thing can't last forever! We'll get through this!!! Here's a simple, delicious and warm entree I came up with, somewhat inspired by what Jade and I created to help Flynn clean out his fridge before his big move.

Recipe request: Vegetarian Hash

I've been trying to use up some of the dry good that I have kicking around my apartment, currently that includes dry soy beans and TVP. I posted a pic of my first attempt and was sassed/asked to supply the recipe. It's nothing fancy, but it's a fairly quick and painless dinner, and is yummy with raw or steamed veggies.

Christmas Baking!

Merry Christmas, lads and lasses.
I must confess I haven't been up to much that I deem blog-worthy lately. I've been going to work dinners, making weekly trips to the post office taking long evening walks before the winter winds begin to howl. I feel that I must take advantage of the nice weather while it lasts. I've been really lucky so far with how nice the weather has been... I fear that mentioning it will jinx it and it'll be nothing but heaps of snow for the next 6 months, but... I'll take that chance right now.

December is here, bringing Christmas cheer.

The holiday season is drawing near, and there are sooooo many dinners to attend. I decided to surprise the host of yesterday's festive soiree with some Yorkshire pudding. Turns out a great deal of folks had never had them before, so I'm *extra* happy with how well they turned out.

Double extra happy that they went so well with Nabe! Woo woo~!

Fluffy and delightful, you should try it them for yourself!

Roctober Curry/Soup...

The minute the sun gets to the tree line and the shadows start to creep across the ground, reaching out to give you goosebumps where the sun had so recently warmed your skin, you shiver and desire a nice warm dinner in your belly and a cup of tea in your hands.

Or maybe it's just me and my refusal to stop wearing shorts and skirts while there are clear skies and temperatures above 15 Celsius. I want my freckles to stick around and to stockpile the delicious-and-cheery-mood-maintaining vitamin D.

Omnomnom.

However, it's also a nice, thick soup. So, I don't know what to tell you. :P

In keeping with the changing leaves, this dish includes many shades of orange, yellow and red (with some hints of green, of course, there are always some leaves that just refuse to change.)

Aaaaanyway.

Another apology recipe.

Hey Glen and Glendas,

Time's just been flying by, can't believe it's almost October! I've got some photos stocked up for posts, but I've just not had the office days to keep on top of my bloggin'!

So, I offer my latest creation as an apology for being tardy.

Recipe Requests

I know spring is trying to come to Aomori, I see it in the hours of bright & sunny the cut through those of blowing snow. Even the sun has started to get up as freakishly early as I do...*shakes fist at the weather* In an effort to keep warm while really wanting to be able to open my windows to let some fresh air in, I made up some pretty nifty soup and some tasty chicken.
Finished curry product all boxed up for lunch!

Quiet Saturday Adventures in Baking

What's shaking, cats and kittens? I'm laying low this weekend and decided to try a couple of ideas I had for some healthy treats.

Yeah yeah, quiet you. They are.

I've made these without adding any sugars or salts to the mix.
